The benefits of STEICO special dry

STEICO special dry brings several advantages:

  • Wind- and watertight: The special 4-sided tongue and groove profile of STEICO special dry guarantees wind tightness and water drainage without the need for additional taping of joints at roof pitches of at least 16°.
  • Vapor permeable: STEICO special dry boards are particularly vapor-permeable and therefore offer additional protection to your roof structure. This is because the boards have a high evaporation potential, preventing stagnation of moisture in the structure.
  • Energy efficient: Thanks to the insulation of the rafters, cold bridges and energy losses are drastically reduced.
  • Thermal insulation: STEICO special dry offers high protection against heat in summer. The relatively large thickness of the sheets inhibits heat transfer and keeps the interior pleasantly cool, even in high outdoor temperatures.
  • Easy to install: With a density of 140 kg/m³, STEICO special dry insulation boards are particularly light and easy to install. In the end, a 120 mm plate weighs only 17.0 kg and can therefore be processed by one person without any problems.
  • Iron-clad quality: Wood fiber insulation board produced according to EN 13171 with permanent quality control.

STEICO special dry: applications

STEICO special dry is primarily used to effectively insulate old roofs. It is a thermally insulating, water-repellent under-roof panel made of natural wood fibers that you place directly on the rafters.

It is also used to thermally insulate exterior walls of a new construction or renovation project.

STEICO special dry install: roadmap

STEICO special dry is placed during the installation of your new roof. For this roadmap, we work from the inside out.

  • Have the wood frame of your roof checked or renewed by a licensed roofer.
  • Provide a vapor barrier to prevent moisture from getting under your insulation.
  • Place insulation between your rafters. Ideally, you should choose STEICO flex.
  • Place your STEICO special dry directly on your rafters.
  • Provide battens and battens to support your roofing material
  • Install your roofing
